Berlin

Host city

Berlin is Germany’s top city for sport and sports fans. High-class events attract sports enthusiasts and spectators from around the world.

Berlin hosts around 40 major sporting events every year, many of which have become legendary; the BMW Berlin-Marathon is one of the top running events worldwide.

Berlin also regularly hosts major international sporting events, such as the 2009 IAAF World Athletics Championships, 2014 LEN European Swimming Championships and the 2015 UEFA Champions League Final.

Hardly any other major city in the world offers so much high class year-round sport: for example, six professional clubs playing in five disciplines make Berlin the German capital for sport.

Whether it’s the Olympic Stadium, Mercedes-Benz Arena, Straße des 17. Juni or the former Tempelhof Airport, Berlin offers the right location for every sporting event.
