The Glasgow 2018 European Championships will bring together some of the continent’s leading sports into one must watch, must attend experience featuring three elite triathlon events. Approximately 160 triathletes will descend on Strathclyde Country Park, one of the UK’s most iconic triathlon parks and venue for the 2014 Commonwealth Games, to make their bid for European Championship glory.
During the Championships, around 1,200 Age Group participants will also get the opportunity to represent their nation on the same course as the elite athletes and experience everything Scotland’s largest city has to offer.
To qualify for the Age Group ETU European Sprint Championships at Glasgow 2018, athletes must take part in at least one of three specific qualification races detailed below:
- Southport Triathlon, 21 May 2017
- Strathclyde Multisport Festival, 27 May 2017
- Thorpe Park Sprint Triathlon, 17 September 2017
There are 20 places available in each age group and athletes must have registered their intent to qualify with British Triathlon by 15 September 2017. Find out more information here.

Aim of the Game
Triathletes undertake an astonishing distance across three disciplines - a 1,500m swim, a 40km cycle and a 10km run. First athlete to complete the course wins.
In the Mixed Team Relay event, two men and two women form a team and each undertake a 250m swim, a 6km cycle and 1.6km run.
