Glasgow and Berlin
Glasgow and Berlin will co-host the inaugural European Championships in August 2018, bringing together the existing championships of seven of Europe’s leading sports into one coordinated, exciting multi-sport event.
Aquatics, cycling, gymnastics, golf, rowing and triathlon will be held in Scotland, with the German capital hosting the athletics.
Glasgow is one of the world’s top 5 sporting cities with an international events programme and several world-class venues such as the iconic Emirates Arena and stunning SSE Hydro. The city was recently voted the ‘friendliest city in the world’ in a Rough Guide poll.
Scotland’s sporting reputation has never been higher, following what is now widely recognised as the best ever Commonwealth Games and the spectacular 2014 Ryder Cup.
Berlin is Germany’s top city for sport and sports fans, hosting around 40 major sporting events every year, many of which have become legendary. The BMW Berlin-Marathon is one of the top running events worldwide.
Hardly any other major city in the world offers so much high class year-round sport: for example, six professional clubs playing in five disciplines make Berlin the German capital for sport.
